Why
On Monday, Oct. 30, work will begin on a utility tunnel that will connect the future Jubel Hall to Brauer Hall at the School of Engineering & Applied Science. To accommodate this work, the interior sidewalk between the engineering buildings and the east end construction fence will close between Brauer and Whitaker Halls. It will remain closed until the East End Transformation is complete.
What’s next
Following completion of the tunnel, in early 2018 construction will begin on a bridge connecting Jubel Hall to the third floor of Whitaker Hall. Soundproofing measures are in development to mitigate noise in spaces on the south side of Whitaker.
Where to go
During construction, pedestrians approaching campus from the intersection of Skinker Boulevard and Forest Park Parkway will be directed to use Forest Park Parkway to access Whitaker Hall and the inner part of the Danforth Campus.
Bike parking outside of Whitaker Hall will be relocated to the vicinity of the School of Engineering.
For emergency egress, exit routes from Brauer and Whitaker Halls will be maintained while the work is in progress.
