Stephen F. & Camilla T. Brauer Hall

Brauer Hall

Brauer Hall is home to the Department of Energy, Environmental & Chemical Engineering, with space for the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Brauer Hall connects seamlessly with Uncas A. Whitaker Hall on all three levels of its east façade, fostering a sense of unity and continuity in the engineering complex.

A LEED Gold certified building, Brauer Hall makes use of a roof-mounted wind turbine and solar panels to generate a portion of the building’s energy. A solar water heater provides hot water to the building, and a highly reflective roof minimizes heat gain.

The firm RMJM designed Brauer Hall in accordance with Danforth Campus’ Collegiate Gothic style, making creative use of local and regional materials to maximize environmental friendliness — recycled blue jeans were shredded and used as insulation.
