Thurtene Carnival parking information

Small children ride a colorful carnival ride with their parents

With the East End Transformation Project underway, Thurtene Carnival moves to a new location this year.

The carnival will be held on the Simon Hall and Athletic Complex parking lots, Olympian Way (Lots 31, 33 and 35) and the paved portion of the entrance to Francis Field. The location change moves the carnival closer to its original 1907 location at Francis Field.

For University Permit Holders

The location change will temporarily reduce the availability of parking spaces in Zone 2. The Simon Hall and Athletic Complex parking lots will be closed to permit holders beginning the morning of Wednesday, April 11 through the carnival.  A majority of those lots will be open to permit holders by the morning of Monday, April 16. All impacted lots will re-open by Tuesday, April 17. Other Zone 2 lots will be available for permit holders.

Overflow parking for Zone 2 permit holders will be available from April 11–14 in the Wallace Garage on the South 40. Lots will be staffed in the mornings of April 11, 12 and 13 to provide assistance.

For Carnival Attendees

Thurtene Carnival weekend attendees (between 5 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Monday) are permitted to park in any designated yellow space. While visitor parking is free on weekends within the DUC, Snow Way or Millbrook garages, visitors will still be required to pull a ticket to gain access.

A full Parking & Transportation update will follow in an upcoming edition of the Record and will be posted on the Parking & Transportation website.
